WHO WE ARE

Praised by Pulitzer Prize Finalist and GRAMMY Award-winning composer Augusta Read Thomas for their “nuanced, colorful, and artfully sculpted” performances, the Aero Quartet is a saxophone chamber ensemble recognized for their versatile and genre-bending concerts, featuring traditionally classical sounds and familiar jazz tunes spanning centuries of musical tradition. Since forming in 2020, Aero has garnered national acclaim and recognition, most notably earning the Gold Medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and First Prize at both the Music Teachers National Association and Briggs Chamber Music Competitions.

Aero Quartet has appeared on numerous chamber music series across the United States, including the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings Nightnotes Series, Chesapeake Music Interlude Series, Chamber Music Yellow Springs, Ladies Musical Club of Seattle, Valparaiso Concert Association, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts, and more. Additionally, Aero has also made appearances at the 2023 Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference, and the 2024 U.S. Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium. Their performances have aired on radio stations worldwide, such as Seattle’s Classical KING 98.1 FM, Chicago’s Classical WFMT 98.7 FM, and Barcelona’s RNE Radio Clásica 93.0.

Outside of their typical concert engagements, Aero Quartet has been invited to give masterclasses and recitals at various higher education institutions, such as the University of Wisconsin–Madison, University of Missouri–Kansas City, University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, University of Kansas, University of Notre Dame, and Thiel College. Aero also heavily values public school educational outreach, and has performed for countless middle and high school students across the country. The mission of these school visits is captured perfectly in an endearing reflection written by a beginning band student from South Bend, Indiana, who stated, “I personally really like chamber music now, especially if it's played with saxophones!”

In 2023, Aero Quartet released their debut album on the London-based record label Orchid Classics, which reached the Top 15 on the Billboard Classical Chart that year. Recorded by Abbey Road Studios recording engineer Jonathan Allen, the album includes a wide array of musical selections and features New York City jazz saxophonist Arun Luthra as a guest artist. The album explores the versatility of the saxophone across multiple genres, featuring music by composers Carlos Simon, Arturo Márquez, Alexander Glazunov, Paquito D’Rivera, John Coltrane, and more. The record is available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music (in Dolby Atmos), and as a featured release on the French digital music service Qobuz.
